Despite a cold and rainy the day on September 27, it didn’t stop the seniors at Hodgdon High School from waking up bright and early and having an exciting and eventful day trip to Penobscot Adventures in Millinocket, owned by Dan and Maureen McDonald. The seniors traveled by bus, were assigned wet suits and booties and helmets, and were split into three groups to fill three rafts. The seniors were glad to have class advisor Kara Wright on the trip, as well as Rob Smith and Brad Chaisson as chaperones, as they hopped right into a raft and joined the adventure with the seniors. GREAT ADVENTURE – The senior class at Hodgdon High School went whitewater rafting with the Penobscot Adventures in Millinocket. Ready for the adventure were from left, front, Josh Murchie, Molly McGuire, Morgan Hall, Dustin Potter, Robert Smith, chaperone; back, Brian McEwen, Dayna Tidd, Cody Hand, Katie Duff, Brad Chaisson, chaperone, Renee Hemingway, Eric Barton, Kelley Suitter, Jamie Ryan and Travis Quint.
It was a great day for the group to raft, since the rapids were high and busy, because of the abundance of rain. The seniors wouldn’t have had it any other way, as they tried to take on the rapids backwards, with guidance from the Penobscot Adventures crew.
Between classmates falling out of the rafts, the favorite game of “King of the Raft,” and the nice feast at the Penobscot Adventures Cabin, the seniors had a successful day that truly showed the closeness of this class, as well as their great class spirit that they have shown over the years, especially at Hodgdon High School.
The Class of 2009 looks forward to their next day trip, and are also hoping for another white water rafting trip in the spring. Thanks goes to the chaperones and the great crew at Penobscot Adventures from the senior class.
