The marriage of Miss Ida Gray, Kelleran Street, to Mr. Bernard McDonald, the popular and efficient meat cutter at Wilson’s Market, occurred Wednesday evening, Rev. A.H.Hanson officiating. Both are among Houlton’s prominent young people who have the best wishes of the community in their new life. They will reside in the Dunn house on High Street.

Hodgdon — The Ladies Aid met with Mrs. Herbert Crane Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Hammond — Mrs. Fred Carpenter had an old fashioned knitting bee last Wednesday at her home with quite a number present. A nice lot of work was done and the hostess served dinner.
Monticello — Next year Monticello High School has the honor of being the first small high school in Aroostook County to have the County cross country meet in its hometown.

Florida — $12,000 in Christmas trees bought by Florida man. C.E.Taylor, making his headquarters at the Northland Hotel, buys seven carloads of trees, all destined for Palm Beach, Florida.
Mars Hill — Mrs. Joan Welch was in charge of the social evening at The Activity Club. She entertained with travel talk. Mrs. Lillian Somerville showed slides on her trip to the West Indies.
Houlton High — Houlton High Seniors are rehearsing for the presentation of their annual play. Some of the cast in “Turn Back the Clock”, a comedy are, Mary Ann McDonald, Albert Ellis, Gail Carson, Gary Benn and Judith Carson.
Hodgdon High Hoopsters — Hodgdon High Basketball team members are, Cliff Barker, manager, Lee Wright, assistant manager, Virgie Bartlett, Terry Quint, Gary London, Ronald Deering, Raymond Kinkade, Robert Currie, Charles Kinkade, Dick Dow, Roger Lycette, Herb Rhoda, Richard McQuarrie and Paul Meader. Phil Martin is the coach.

Rotary Speaker — U.S. Senator George Mitchell was guest speaker at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club in Houlton. The senator spoke mainly of the federal deficit, terming this the foremost problem facing the nation today.
Auction — Not listed among the hundreds of items in the annual Rotary Radio Auction last week was the beard of Charles Upton, but it none the less produced $120 for the Rotary Club. Upton offered to shave his beard for a price. Councilor Dale Donahue met the challenge with $50; other pledges brought the total to $120.
Grange Hall — The Grange Hall in Houlton was the setting of a Thanksgiving dinner party for the Barrows and Schools families. Kenneth McAfee brought his trumpet and played several tunes before dinner.
Island Falls — Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Rand spent Thanksgiving Day with Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Rand at Sherman Mills.

THANKSGIVING — Hollie McPartland’s second grade class at Houlton Elementary School presented two short plays and some festive songs. The plays were entitled “Dreams on Thanksgiving Eve” and “Then and Now.” The class members performing in alphabetical order were, Erin Clark, Glen Cole, Chris Cook, Lucas Dewitt, Michael Doolen, Jennifer Edwards, Kelly Farrell, Becky Floyd, Troy Folsom, Brian Howe, Aaron Levensailor, Erika McCarthy, Lisa MacDonald.
