Image    HOULTON – James F. McPartland, 84, died on November 7, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born on October 19, 1924, the son of Frank L. and Louise (Chamberlain) McPartland.
    He enlisted in the United States Navy following his high school graduation in 1943 and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He married Lois Marie Moore on September 23, 1950. He enjoyed a career in the family plumbing and heating business established by his grandfather, James H. McPartland.
    He is survived by his dear wife of 58 years; his six children, Margaret of Belgrade, Anne and her husband, Charlie Dodd of Mont Vernon, NH, James M. and his wife, Hollie of Houlton, Frank and his wife, Carla of New Limerick, Mary and her husband, Dean Waring of Brunswick, and Sarah and her husband, Shawn Good of Hampden; and twelve adored grandchildren, Emily and Laura Dodd, Christopher and Julia Bean, Andrew and Amie McPartland, Mallory and Martha McPartland, James and Joseph Waring, Sam and Daniel Good; and one aunt, Katherine "Dolly" Coleman.
    He was proud to serve 40 years as a Director of the Houlton Water Company, and was honored to have the Carys Mills Well and Pumping station named for him. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Visitation Parish, was a Life member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Houlton Lodge of Elks #835, and was never happier than when he was spending time with his family and many friends. He grew up beside the Houlton Firehouse, and has been a lifelong supporter and enthusiast of the Houlton Fire Department.
    Jim’s visitation was private, friends and relitaves were invited to share in a celebration of his life 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11 at the Houlton St. Mary of the Visitation Church with Father David Raymond as officiate. Internment with Military Honors was in the Old St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends were welcomed to a reception in the Parish Hall immediately following a graveside service.
