Fitness facility fights rumors

To the editor:
I would like to answer many questions I have received regarding County Girl Fitness. First off, no we are not closed, nor are we planning to close! We have changed our telephone number to 694-4950. We are still located at 382 North Street but we have relocated to the second floor.
I have heard many rumors that we are closed and I have received comments, mostly from people who are not even members, that relocating to the second floor was a bad idea and that I only want to cater to the younger crowd. This is not even close to being true. I have members that range in age from 12 to 85 and I enjoy each and every one of them. I would never discriminate against someone because of their age. I have an 83-year-old woman who has more energy than I do most days and I consider her an inspiration. Climbing the stairs may be a challenge for some but it has now just become another part of their workouts.
I am trying everything in my power to keep this business open and moving upstairs was a cost conscious move for me, nothing more. Owning a small business has both challenges and rewards and with the economy being in the state it is, right now is a challenge. I don’t want to close my doors, I want to stay open so while this move may not seem smart to some, it was a smart move on my part to try and keep another business from closing in this town.
I could have chosen to stay downstairs and increase the membership prices but I chose not to pass an increase onto my members. There are enough things going up in price these days. Memberships are $35 per month for adults and $25 per month for students. If you can find a partner to join with you, take advantage of our “buddy up” rate of $50 per month.
Please stop by and see our new facility. Who knows … you may become the next biggest loser!
