The Northern Penobscot Pullers Association held its end of the year meeting on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Timber House restaurant in Lincoln. Several members of the club were present for the meeting, which was brought to order by President Jere Humphrey.
Discussions were held regarding the 2008 year. Different committee chairmen spoke of their duties during the last year.  Some of these were: Carmel Watson, in charge of advertising the pulls, Lee Wood spoke on the puller’s association’s web site (myspace.com/penobscotpullers or pullnppa.com) and thanked all who contributed movies and pictures to it, Mitch Harris brought up to date information on the sled account.
Volunteers who put much into the summer’s events were recognized.
Each year the NPPA donates monies to a charity. This year, Northern Penobscot Technical Institute and The Pine Tree Camp were each recipients.
Topics of projected improvements were discussed for the next pulling season.
There was an election of officers for the 2009 year. Humphrey was re-elected as president, Barry Dow remains vice-president and Tiffany Clay was re-elected as secretary. On the Board of Directors are Carl Watson, chairman of the board, Steve Madden, Marty Carmichael and Pete Mercier.
Humphrey discussed the importance of sponsors to help offset the cost of the pulls to the club and encourage members to seek out sponsors. Representatives of the club will attend the Agricultural Fair Association meeting to be held in Portland in January to schedule pulls with them for the ’09 season.
The Maine State Pullers Association meeting and awards banquet will be in Bangor on Nov.22. The NPPA awards banquet will be Saturday, Oct. 25 in Oakfield.
