My son, Tom, arrived the other day from Glenburn and did quite a bit of cosmetic work around the house, trimming trees and such. Plans to return in another week to finish up and to plow my little garden for another year.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Pankratz have returned home to Kansas after spending the summer at their cottage on Pleasant pond. Doris Pankratz was one of my companions at the pool at Vacationland Estates, so I miss her company and look forward to seeing her next year.
Latest word on “Tat” Springer is that she is home from the hospital following surgery and is doing very well — being looked after by her daughter, Anita.
I spotted that black cat lying in wait under the cedar tree for one of my birds and sure sent him flying. The blue jays and the woodpeckers are having fun eating all the peanut butter and lard I have put out for them since it has gotten colder.
I still have four glads that are almost in bloom. I never had them so long in developing, so am hoping the frost won’t get them. I looked out at noontime the other day and there were five deer out back busily eating away at whatever they find out there. Usually they appear late in the afternoon and stay about an hour. I am not putting out any thing for them yet, unless I get some bread that is turning a bit and then they get that. Have a lot of crows around too, and they gobble up old bread pretty fast, too.
