When Eliza Currie of Bangor and Justin Jamison of Orono decided to get married, they knew they wouldn’t need a new toaster or fancy china place settings. The couple, who reside in a late 19th century farm house in Benedicta, really only need one thing: a tractor. In lieu of gifts, the couple asked wedding guests to contribute instead to a tractor fund. (Information can be found at www.ourweddingtractor.com.)
Said Eliza, “Justin already has several cows and we hope to raise more in the future. We know a tractor is expensive but it is an essential tool here. An unusual gift, yes, but one we will treasure as a couple.”
Currently a business school student at the University of Maine in Orono, Justin has been the Farm Superintendent at the Witter and Rogers Farms of the University of Maine, Orono for four years and hopes to one day run an organic dairy. Eliza currently works as a Physician Assistant at Katahdin Valley Health Center in Patten.
The couple were married Oct. 12, 2008 in Bangor.
