TOPSHAM — A diagnosis of breast cancer can affect the way a woman views herself, her sexuality and intimacy throughout her entire lifespan. Breast cancer survivors and their loved ones are invited to attend a one-day conference on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Saco.
The conference will address the effects of a breast cancer diagnosis on sexuality; explore critical realities of the diagnosis, including fertility issues; and identify ways patients and partners can restore intimacy and wholeness to their lives.
Susan Doughty, a GYN nurse practitioner and owner of the New England Women Center in South Portland, is scheduled to lead a group discussion.
Pre-registration is required by Nov. 10, as is a $10 per person fee. Continental breakfast and a lunch will be served. FMI, contact Peggy Belanger at Southern Maine Medical Center at 283-7575, or by e-mail, ms3.mab@smmc.org.
