With harvest recess, only a few local teams are in action.
The Katahdin Cougars remain undefeated on the season, 11-0, with a 2-0 victory over visiting Lee on Monday.
Marshall Davis supplied the game-winner with 3:52 left in the first half, as Ethan Qualey added an insurance goal with 1:03 remaining in second-half action. Goalie Matt Tarr had one save, as the Cougars outshot the Pandas, 34-2.
On the girl’s side, Katahdin battled to a 1-1 tie with Lee after two overtime sessions.
Dani-Beth Cyr and Lee’s Felicia Thornton didn’t allow a goal through the extra time, as Cyr made 16 saves on 17 shots faced. Brooke Livezey scored off a Melissa Duffy set up to give Katahdin a 1-0 first-half lead. But, the Pandas came back to tie the game with 1:49 left in regulation.
Last Saturday, East Grand fell to Shead, 8-1. Jordan Crone scored the Vikings lone goal, while goalie David Cropley stopped 9-of-19 shots.
At Lee last Friday, the Southern Aroostook Lady Warriors edged the Pandas, 1-0, with an unassisted goal from Brittany Charette with 32:17 left in the game. Goalie Emily Cummings blocked six of 12 shots faced.
In boy’s action, the Warriors defeated Lee, 2-1, as Tyler Robinson connected on the game-winner from Dakota Sleeper 10 minutes into second half action. Pat Goodall scored the Warriors first goal unassisted. Keeper Dillion Boulier had eight saves against 14 shot attempts.
Last Tuesday, the Lady Cougars picked up a 3-0 win over host Lee behind two goals and an assist from Duffy. Livezey added a tally and Mary Jo Robinson chipped in with an assist. Goalie Jade Clippinger had seven saves on 13 shots and Lee’s Thornton stopped 9-of-12.
