On Labor Day, 10 of the Budweiser Clydesdales from the Anheuser-Bush East Coast Hitch of Merrimack, N.H. made an overnight stay in Houlton on their return from a 12-day trip through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Five horses were unloaded at the Maine State Police Barracks and stayed at Mike Carpenter’s barn on the North Road in Houlton. The other five horses were housed with Sue Waite-York on the B Road.
Early Tuesday morning, the horses, their handlers and mascot, a Dalmatian named Barley, headed home.
