The Houlton High School varsity golf team has won its first two matches against Fort Kent and Caribou.
On Friday, the Shiretowners topped the Warriors, 150-217, with Porter Gervais of Houlton taking low medalist honors with a score of 35.
Houlton’s Dylan Flewelling and Ian Gervais each finished with a 39, while Greg Foster shot a 37 and Nikki Eastman a 50. Nick Chase carded a 45, while Gaige Flewelling was a stroke behind and Logan Shaffer finished with a 46.
In their opener against Caribou, the Shiretowners won 160-173.
Houlton’s D. Flewelling and Caribou’s Caleb Chapman were low medalist each with a 37. The Gervais brothers were within two strokes of each other, as Porter tallied a 39 and Ian a 41. Rounding out the scoring were: Foster, 43; Eastman, 51; Chase, 49; G. Flewelling, 52 and Shaffer, 50.
At VaJoWa Golf Club in Island Falls, Katahdin edged Central Aroostook, 221-225 in a recent match.
Andrew Hawkins was low medalist with a score of 40, while Josh Guiggey and Evan McCarthy each carded 43s. Brandon Robinson finished with a 44, while Cody Cunningham scored a 52; Lucas Craig a 51 and Chris Clukey finished with a 59.
For CAHS, Kaine Kingsbury scored 44; Kasey Brewer, 43; Will Delong, 44; Sean McIntyre, 45; Abe Brewer, 55 and T.J. Turley, 49.
David Dubois of Southern Aroostook finished with a 42.
