Island Falls — A strong aggregation of ball tossers came down from Hodgdon last Friday and did up the home team with a score 6-7.
Ludlow — Mr. John White of Houlton is buying two carloads of potatoes at Ludlow station this week. He is paying $1.25 per barrel.

Moving on — Twenty-six Houlton High graduates will continue their education in colleges or vocational schools this fall.
Port of Entry — Aubrey McLaughlin an HRDC official reports that every attempt is being made to have Houlton International Airport designated an American port of entry. The airport was recently designated by Canadian officials as a Canadian port of entry — the next natural step would be to declare it an American port of entry.
Rainbow Girls — Gayle Carson, daughter of J. Merland Carson was installed Worthy Advisor of the Houlton Assembly Rainbow for Girls. Miss Carson, 17, is a senior at Houlton High School where she is a member of the Honor Society. She was escorted to the alter, crowned by her father and installed by her mother. Miss Ruth Mooers sang “I’ll Walk with God” and the Misses Sally Wiggins, Jane Johnson, Rosemary Howe, Judith London, Bonnie Reed and Janice Doescher formed the color guard. Little Mack Dow presented the Worthy Advisor with a bouquet of roses.
Monticello News — Mr. and Mrs. Walter Delong have purchased the Benjamin Lynds’ residence on Main Street in Monticello south of town. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Graham have purchased the Leon Jewell residence on Church Street. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Jewell will move into their new home on Main Street in Monticello.

Storm News — Violent storm fells trees and knocks out power in the Houlton area. A tree fell on an empty vehicle owned by Mr. Black of North Amity. The station wagon was parked on the corner of Park Street and Commonwealth Avenue.
Campaign Visit — Former Vice President Walter Mondale was in Houlton on a swing through Aroostook County.
He was hosted by several members of the local Democratic Party at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. John Madigan.
He urged voters to go the polls. He covered items including, safer world, health and the economy, the beauty of the land and preserving foreign affairs and the need for better education for our youth.
Mr. Mondale greeted Mr. James M. Pierce of Houlton who was the oldest living member of the Maine Democratic Party.
