Forty-four players braved the early morning rain this past Saturday to play in the fourth annual July “666” Two-ball Championship. By day’s end and under sunny skies the team of Dennis Wright and Josh McGuire made five birdies to win the Ryder Cup Format Championship with a final score of 67.
Sean Dolomont and Scot Walker kept the pressure on all day but came up one stroke short at 68. Placing third was the Todd Willard/Al Putnam team with a score of 69.
In the Net Championship, Babe Caron came out of retirement to help his team of Caron/Mailman win with a net score of 62. Marty Gervais and Todd Peabody finished at 63 for second place and Marty Bouchard/Mike Fogarty came in third. Closest to the Pin honors went to LouAnn Dwyer on the 3rd hole at 3’11’’ and Todd Willard on the 12th hole at 9’. Thanks to all the players for their participation.
We had two players record a Hole in One this month. On Friday, July 18 Matt Quint used a 7 iron on the third hole for the first ace of his career. On July 5, Mickey Fein made an ace on no. 8 with pitching wedge. Congratulations Matt and Mickey.
In Mens Twilite League, the Marino/Peabody team has taken over the lead in the Mickelson Division, while in the Woods Division the Fitz and Dunn team hold a slim 1-point lead over the new team of Paul Adams and Dick York.
The McPartland/Gervais team seems to be running away from the rest of the teams in the Els Division. Can anyone stop that juggernaut!
In the Ladies Twilite League, the Marino Duo, Kara and Misty, hold a 1 point lead over the Theresa Bragan-Lori Holmes team.
Presidents Cup Match Play continues for both the Men and Ladies with play now into the “Great Eight” bracket. Check the bulletin board for upcoming matches and good luck to all players.
The annual County Open Championship is fast approaching August 9th and 10th, and the course will be closed those two days from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
