BIG BANG AND THEN SOME — Houlton’s Fourth of July fireworks proved to be a spectacular event as Houlton’s Fair Association had been bragging about. The fireworks began shortly after sundown on Friday.

Spectators from all over Aroostook County, U.S. and Canada were in full view of the Independence Day light show. The fair kicked off Thursday, July 3 alongside the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce’s Midnight  Madness event.Image At right, 5-year-old Arianna Lane, who traveled to Houlton on July 3 from Brewer, showed no fear during Kachunga and his alligator friends’ show at the Houlton Fair. She got more than she bargained for. The proud little girl was more than happy to take on this baby alligator all by herself, with her parents looking on. Fair officials state that approximately 13,600 people crossed the fair gates during its four-day stay in town.
