The opening Upper St. John Valley Senior Golf Tournament was held on June 11 at the Mars Hill Country Club, with 140 players. Five players tied with a low gross score of 81, Marc Michaud of Fort Kent; Charles Violette of Presque Isle; Armand Corriveau of Edmundston; Mike Pelletier of Edmundston and Harry Orser of Mars Hill. Taking low net honors was Arthur Benner of Caribou.
Division I gross winners were: Orser and Corriveau, 81s and Jerome Bear, Aroostook Valley, 82. Net, Willard Cyr, Edmundston, 73; Pelletier, 74 and Violette, 75.
Division II gross winners were: Michaud, 81; Robert Duprey, Presque Isle, 85 and Moe Collins, Presque Isle, 86. Net, Ed Quinlan, VaJoWa, 72; Glen Carson, Presque Isle, 74 and Darrell Anderson, Covered Bridge, 74.
