Mildred Doris (“Dorrie”) Beaulieu Carrier

CHANDLER, AZ – Mildred Doris (“Dorrie”) Beaulieu Carrier, age 64, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many, returned home to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at the Dobson Home Healthcare Center in Chandler, AZ.   The cause of death was due to long-term chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.  Doris was born October 31, 1943, in Presque Isle, Maine daughter to John Paul Beaulieu and Yvonne Marie (Lavway) Beaulieu.
Dorrie grew up in Presque Isle, Maine and attended Presque Isle High School. She married Rodrique Carrier, also from Presque Isle and they had three children together, Bernadette Marie, Rodrique (Jerry) Gerald Jr. and Peter William Carrier.
Dorrie received her CNA certificate in 1986 in Grants Pass, Oregon, where she worked at a senior care facility for a number of years until she suffered a massive heart attack that permanently disabled her.  She volunteered many hours at local hospices near her home in Mesa, Arizona, easing the cares of the residents there and being a friendly listener.
Dorrie was an avid lover of animals – in particular her horses. She was a collector of western music (one of her favorites was Boxcar Willy), postage stamps as far back as the 1930s, Indian/western relics, and afghans.  Her Shar Pei, Sierra, will surely miss the special time they spent during their daily walks together.
Dorrie is survived by her mother, Yvonne Beaulieu of Waterville, ME; children, Peter Carrier, Mesa, AZ; two grandchildren, Alicia and Nicole Carrier; brothers, Bryon Beaulieu, Winston, OR, Stephen Beaulieu, Collierville, TN, Todd Beaulieu, Kingston, MA; sisters Tyline Forbes, Vassalboro, ME and Patricia Beaulieu, Trabuco Canyon, CA.  Her aunts and uncles, Jasper and Elizabeth Umphrey of Crouseville, ME, John and Rose Lavway of Crouseville, ME, Linwood and Alice Kenney of Washburn, ME, Laurence and Gertie Lavway of Bear, DE, and Clair and Christine Lavway of Washburn, ME.
Dorrie was preceded in death by her father John, daughter Bernadette and son Rodrique (Jerry) and her loving grandparents Frank T. Lavway, Madeline (Brown) Lavway Litchrod, Joseph Beaulieu and Emma (Caron) Beaulieu.  All of her aunts and uncles on her father’s side have all passed away.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, December 9, 2007, at the East Mesa Healthcare Center in Mesa, AZ. The celebration of her life was completed with a yellow, pink and blue “Balloon Release” ceremony shortly afterwards.   Doris’ ashes will be released over a special place on a ranch in Oakland, Oregon that she loved, in the spring with a family memorial service.  Oregon held a special place in her heart and her request was to be cremated and ashes spread on the ranch off Cole Road in Oakland.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Hospice of the Valley (whom we consider our extended family) for the tender, loving care given to our sister while residing at their facility.
