READ-A-THON — Teddy Wheeler, along with other students at Mill Pond School in Hodgdon, is ready to curl up with a good book. On Jan. 18, students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 2 launched a Read-A-Thon; students pledge to read (or be read to) for a certain amount of time while collecting sponsors who donate for each minute read. Last year, the students reached their goal of 20,000 minutes and raised nearly $2,000 in the process; they’re hoping to surpass those goals this year. Money raised was used to purchase literature for their classrooms. Whether they have sponsors or not, students are encouraged to read as many minutes as they can over the next three weeks.
