HOULTON — January is National Hot Soup Month in the USA, and to celebrate, SOAR (Support Our American Recruits) members prepared small care packages composed of a little chicken soup for the belly and a little chicken soup for the soul for our troops serving overseas.

SOAR is actively supporting two large units with ties to Maine that have recently deployed to Iraq as well as many other individuals serving around the world. Community support is always welcome with the expenses of shipping and postage.
“Operation: Love & Hugs” for our troops for Valentines Day will be in the mail by the last week in January. A donation by Wal-Mart and MAJ. Robert Fields (ret.) helped supply the chocolate kisses that will be enclosed with each card.
