Guiod steps down from hoop

The Hodgdon basketball program has a new coach in a former player, Tyler Putnam.
Tim Guiod, who has coached the team for the last several years, decided to step down from the full-time commitment.
“I just need to spend more time at home with my family,” he said. “I have three young children who are involved in many activities, and I have missed too many of them already.”
Guiod said that coaching at the varsity level requires “a tremendous amount of time,” and he isn’t walking away from the game for good.
“I plan on getting back into it in the future,” he said. “For now, I will watch my son Nick, a sixth-grader play. I will continue to be involved with the program in Hodgdon, just on a limited basis helping with the younger level.”
Guiod’s son is playing on Houlton’s Aroostook Youth Basketball League 5-6 grade boy’s team.
In the spring, Guiod will be back on the sidelines coaching varsity softball for his seventh year.
“The program is going very well,” he noted. “The overall numbers have jumped tremendously both at the high school and junior high level.”
