Desmond, Joanne, 78, November 12, 2007.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.  Interment to be held in the Island Falls Cemetery.     ISLAND FALLS – Joanne Desmond, 78, died Nov. 12, 2007 in Houlton. She was born Jan. 18, 1929 in Houlton, the daughter of Roland and Mona (Astle) Kinney. She was a member of the Whittier Congregational Church.
    She is survived by two children, L. Phillip Jr. and his wife Belinda Desmond of Crystal and Patti and her husband Ted Hartin of Island Falls; six grandchildren, Scott and his wife Jennifer Desmond, and their children, Aidan and Emma, Steven and his wife Michelle Desmond and their son Evan, Stephanie Desmond, Matthew Desmond and Lindsay Desmond and Wyatt Hartin; 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roland Kinney Jr. of Brookfield, CT; and two sisters; Helen (Peggy) Griffin of Largo, FL, and Lois Kennedy of Ft. Wayne,  Ind.; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeased by her husband Lloyd (Sike) Desmond.
    Friends called 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the Bowers Funeral Home in Island Falls where funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday  with the Rev. Michael Kasevich Officiating.
