Aroostook Orthotics and Prosthetics is proud to announce a new prosthetist to its staff for upper and lower limbs. Mark C. Picurro, board certified orthotist/prosthetist, joined the staff on Sept. 1.     Picurro comes with vast knowledge and expertise in upper and lower limbs. He first began his training while stationed in the service in Texas and then went on to school in New York for his certification in orthotics and prosthetics after leaving the service.
Picurro moved to Maine shortly after developing the first orthotics and prosthetics business north of Portland. He opened Picurro’s Orthotics and Prosthetics business before selling to Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics. “I am pleased to have such a qualified prosthetist on staff to service the County,” stated Donna Gallant, owner, and board certified orthotist, pedorthist, and mastectomy fitter. “We have been looking for a person with the knowledge and quality skills Mark has.”
“Mark has been busy since arriving here in Aroostook Orthotics and Prosthetics, making all of our upper and lower limbs in our fabrication room here at our office. He enjoys working with the people of the County and being a part of their care. It is important for us to have board certified employees on staff to meet the criteria necessary for insurance companies and meet the qualification necessary for our accreditations,” said Gallant.
Gallant said her office will be adding another CPO in 2008 to meet her growing business demands. You can see Picurro by calling 762-3808.
