CARIBOU, Maine Cary Medical Center has announced the date for the 35th Annual Cary Health Fair. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Caribou High School.

New to the event this year will be a special recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, and Vietnam Veterans will be presented with free commemorative lapel pins. Bill Flagg, director of community relations and development at Cary, said that adding the Veterans recognition will make this year’s event memorable.
“All year we have been conducting special events to recognize and honor our Veterans,” said Flagg, who established the Cary Health Fair along with the hospital Auxiliary in 1980.
“Marking the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and honoring those who served has really been a privilege for us, and we look forward to presenting these beautiful commemorative lapel pins,” he said.
The Health Fair will feature a special exhibit displaying a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC. Special ‘Honor Our Veterans’ and ‘Thank You for Your Service’ wristbands will be distributed.
Free flu shots and a number of health screenings will also be available. Cholesterol and blood glucose testing, blood pressure and vision screenings will be offered, along with pulmonary function tests. In addition, many area health agencies and programs will feature exhibits and information.
The event will offer yoga demonstrations on the hour for adults and children. Other children’s events are also being planned.
