    BOYD, Wallace Virgil, 82, MARS HILL, September 17, 2015. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Faith Baptist Chapel, Blaine. Services in care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.

    MARS HILL – Wallace Virgil Boyd, 82, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2015, after a long illness. Wallace was born in Blaine, on June 21, 1933, the son of John E. Boyd and Katie E. (Drost) Boyd.
    He graduated from the Aroostook Central Institute and Zion Bible Institute. On July 14, 1955, he married Ella Marlene (Kinney) Boyd and was ordained to preach the Gospel during their wedding ceremony. He ran the Boyd Family Farm for many years and was an active member of the Soil and Water Conservation Service. He later served as the Road Commissioner of the town of Mars Hill and was an active member of the community, serving on the School Board and Town Planning Board. His faith was a vital part of his life, and Wallace served as an associate pastor and Sunday school teacher for many years.
    Wallace was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Ella; his parents; sisters, Lillian Burke, Eva Bierce and Olga Beattie; and brother, Arnold Boyd.
    He is survived by their four children, Winston A. Boyd and his wife, Jan of Libertyville, IL, Wanda A. Jackins and her spouse, Kevin, and Wendy L. Todd and her spouse, Perrin, all of Mars Hill, ME, and Wanice L. Linn and her spouse, Thomas of Dundee, MI; eight grandchildren: Amber Wood and husband, Brian, Landon Jackins, Shannon Todd, Conor Todd, Josiah Jackins, Emily Boyd, Cameron Todd, and Nelson Boyd; and three great-grandchildren: Destiny and Alle Wood, and Ella Todd; brothers, Norris and Ronald Boyd; a sister, Ilene Burtchell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Friends and family called 6–8 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Faith Baptist Chapel, 24 Military Rd., Blaine, with committal to follow at Kings’ Grove Cemetery, Mars Hill, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wallace’s memory to the Wallace and Ella Boyd Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o SAD #42, PO Box 1006, Mars Hill, ME 04758 to benefit deserving high school seniors entering the ministry or pursuing a music degree.  Services in care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.
