Young FF golfer second in state competition
CUMBERLAND, Maine — Michael Bruce of Fort Fairfield was the runner-up in the 7-9 year-old age group at the annual Drive, Chip and Putt state competition, held at Val Halla Golf and Recreation Center June 20, 2015.
Twenty two golfers competed in Bruce’s division. He won the driving competition, was second in chipping and fourth in putting.
The event is sponsored by the Professional Golfers Association and begins with statewide competitions, followed by sub-regional and regional competitions leading to a national final in Augusta, Ga. during The Masters golf tourney in April, 2016.
By placing second, he advanced to the sub-regional to be held in Framingham, Mass. Aug. 4.
He is the son of James and Melissa Bruce.
