Celebrate International Museum Day with a free tour

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine —There is a holiday for everything, and museums are no exception! Monday, May 18, is International Museum Day and the Presque Isle Historical Society is celebrating by offering free tours of the 1875 Vera Estey House Museum.
Vera Estey was born in 1894 and moved to Presque Isle in 1903. Estey was a most unusual woman for her era, choosing to remain unmarried and being an entrepreneur. Come hear her story and tour the small Victorian home with knowledgeable tour guides who will educate and entertain you.
The tours are scheduled for noon and 6 p.m. The tours are free, but space is limited and reservations are suggested. The house is located at 16 Third St. in Presque Isle, and on-street parking is available.
The Presque Isle Historical Society, founded in 1963, studies, promotes and preserves the history, culture, heritage and physical artifacts of Presque Isle for present and future generations. For more information on this event or any of the Society’s programs, or to make a tax deductible contribution, call 762-1151 or e-mail pihistoricalsociety@hotmail.com.
