Paving work begins on Route 163

Motorists traveling Route 163 may want to allow more time to reach destinations, now that paving work has begun.

“Crews began paving on Route 163 in Mapleton on May 4. The paving project begins on Route 163/Mapleton Road .2 miles east of the Dudley Road and extends easterly 6.57 miles to .94 miles east of the Mapleton-Presque Isle town line,” said Ted Talbot, press secretary for the Maine Department of Transportation.
Talbot said motorists should expect slight delays traveling through the work zones that will be controlled by flaggers.
It is anticipated all work will be completed by mid-July. Lane Construction Corp., of Presque Isle, will perform this $1.6 million project.
