VFW officers elected
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Hayward Frazier Post 2599, located at 6 State Road, has a new slate of officers, following an election held earlier this month.
“The elections were held April 6, with State Commander Ron Smith present for the installation ceremony,” said Rhett Bessey, post commander.
In addition to Bessey, who took over command from Randolph Michaud, others elected include: Adam Plissey, senior vice commander; Shaun Berube, junior vice commander and adjutant; Robert Canney, quartermaster; Andrew Kinney, chaplain; Matt Harris, judge advocate; James Grass, surgeon and second-year trustee; Richard Norton, first-year trustee; Gaylon Lyons, third-year trustee; and Ben Everett, service officer.
Bessey said the organization wants to “return to its roots.”
“We want to focus more on veterans — do more to assist them however we can. We’ll continue to do fundraisers, with money used to benefit area veterans,” said Bessey.
He said he’s currently working on renewing the post’s liquor license.
“We want to renew our license. We held an indoor sale recently, with some of the funds raised going towards that,” said Bessey. “The facility is available for parties, receptions, etc.”
