Gustin to receive state Women in Business award

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine Deborah Gustin, owner of Pie Nana Inc., doing business as Irish Setter Pub, has been selected to receive the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2015 Women in Business Champion Award for Maine.
“While much attention is given to startups and high-growth industries, it is often businesses such as Deborah’s that help form a community’s identity,” said Marilyn Geroux, SBA district director for Maine. “The growth that she has brought to the business demonstrates what can be achieved with vision and commitment.”
Located at 710 Main St. in Presque Isle, the Irish Setter Pub was started in 2006 before being purchased by Gustin in February of 2008. Since taking over ownership, Gustin has expanded the restaurant’s offerings, adding more Maine-produced ingredients and beverages, as well as adding outdoor dining in the summer. Today, Gustin credits her continued success to great customer service by listening to her customers’ suggestions.
“Although Deborah assumed ownership during a very difficult economic climate, the business has thrived year after year under her ownership,” said Craig Staples, vice president and commercial services officer for Katahdin Trust Co., who nominated Gustin for the award. “Katahdin Trust is honored and pleased that Deborah Gustin has received the honor as the 2015 Women in Business Champion Award.”
