Website combines Fort Fairfield, chamber and festival pages

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — A new town website was launched earlier this year — one that is mobile-friendly and combines town, chamber and festival sites into one easy-to-access location.
After several months of research and development, community officials unveiled the project which features town services, information about the Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and area businesses, as well as up-to-date information about the Maine Potato Blossom Festival. The site will now serve as an added marketing tool in promoting the town.
“In this day and age, websites are nearly as important as Main Street is to a community,” said Fort Fairfield’s Marketing and Economic Director Tim Goff. “Our online presence is a gateway to our community and plays an important role in how our town is viewed by potential investors, residents and visitors alike.”
The new website maintains the same domain name as before — www.fortfairfield.org — and web traffic is also routed to the site from the old Chamber of Commerce domain, www.fortcc.org, as well as from the Maine Potato Blossom website, www.potatoblossom.org.
“The reason for combining these sites is simple,” explained Goff. “By doing it this way, we provide a one-stop resource for people looking for a variety of information and services, and better position ourselves to tell our story by explaining what we have to offer on a more interactive platform. Our social media presence is also embedded on the site as well, which provides us an opportunity to engage people in their homes or on the go, and give them insight into the type of tight-knit, active community that we are.”
While the website is up and running, Goff said there are many more updates planned, including the addition of video posts and other user-friendly content that will connect people to the community — no matter where they are in the world.
“We are just getting started,” added Goff. “This town, and this area, have a great story to tell. If we can do that while providing top-notch service delivered both digitally and in person, we will be able to increase awareness about who we are, where we are and why Fort Fairfield — and Aroostook County — is such a special place.”
