Beryl Sturgis Lawrence

     LAWRENCE, Beryl Sturgis, 87, MARS HILL, March 10, 2015. There will be no calling hours at her request. Arrangements are under the care of Faye Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

    MARS HILL – Beryl Sturgis Lawrence entered into the presence of her Lord Tuesday, March 10, 2015. She was born on February 15, 1928, in Auburn, ME, to the late Alfred and Hazel (Mower) Sturgis.
    Beryl enjoyed a full life filled with contagious joy and a strong faith in the Lord shared with her beloved family and friends. She attended Farmington State Teachers College. She married her college sweetheart, Philip Lawrence, on July 3, 1948, and settled to raise their four children and enjoy their adventurous life together for the next 67 years.
    Beryl was active in her community through Mars Hill United Baptist Church where she was the leader of Pioneer Girls and active with Missionary Harvesters and Community Club. She worked as Assistant and then as Head Activities Coordinator at Mars Hill Nursing Home for a number of years.
    Beryl loved quilting, oil and acrylic painting, baking and was a beautiful singer and piano player. She enjoyed long walks, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation in nature.
    Beryl is survived by her children and their spouses: Susan Rideout, Rodney and Molly Lawrence, Warren and Elaine Lawrence, and Barbara and Richard Friscia; her grandchildren: James, Julie, Joel, Jonathan, Andrew, Meghan, MacKenzie, Christian, Zachary, Braden, and Jaime; 12 great -grandchildren; her sister, Therna; and many nephews and nieces.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Lawrence; brothers, Harlan, Deane and John; and sisters, Norine and Phyllis.
    There will be no calling hours at Beryl’s request. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Mars Hill United Baptist Church’s missionary fund, P.O. Box 382, Mars Hill, ME 04758. A memorial service is planned for later this spring to celebrate her life well lived. Arrangements are by Faye Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
