PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Presque Isle Historical Society’s Maysville Museum will open for its ninth summer season on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Museum, a former one-room schoolhouse which was restored and renovated opening in 2017, is located at 165 Caribou Road on the corner of US Route 1 and the Brewer Road.

The museum has four cornerstone exhibits (The Aroostook War, Presque Isle & the Civil War, Agri-Culture and Presque Isle’s One-Room Schoolhouses) as well as several smaller exhibits.  One of the most popular exhibits is a working antique telephone switchboard. Each year, two new exhibits are debuted. A brief presentation on the new exhibits will be given at 10:15 a.m. on May 31. Admission to the museum is free.

Kim Smith, board member and museum curator, said, “It is so meaningful to all of the board and members to be able to continue to serve this community with our regularly recurring tours and presentations, over 40 different virtual tours, the 1875 Vera Estey House Museum and the Maysville Museum as well as special monthly anniversary celebration events – and many of these offerings are free to the public. We love to share local history and are so fortunate to continue to be able to do so!”
