    BURTCHELL, Dennis Harold, 67, MIDDLETOWN, RI & PRESQUE ISLE, ME, at Rhode Island, November 1, 2014. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home, Newport, RI.

    MIDDLETOWN, RI & PRESQUE ISLE, ME – Dennis Harold Burtchell died unexpectedly but peacefully in his home on November 1, 2014, in Middletown, RI, at the age of 67. Dennis was born on August 24, 1947, in Presque Isle, ME, to Harold and Arlene Burtchell.  American Flag Color
    He graduated from Guilford High School in Conn. in 1966, served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-70, and graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO, with a degree in business management. He worked in the Insurance field serving independent agents, taught a business class at CMSU, and later became a real estate broker. He resided in Warrensburg, MO, for 30 years and then in CT and RI for the past several years.
    He was a good man, wonderful husband, father, and grandfather; always had a spectacular smile, kind and comforting words, and a sense of humor about him. He loved first and foremost spending time with his family followed by cars, sports, camping, boating and fishing. He was an eagle scout, avid baseball player, active in scouts with his son, and a little league coach for his kids in various sports. He was a Christian and firm believer in God. God showed Dennis his presence and power of miracles throughout the years.
    Dennis is survived by his wife, Patricia Namerow of Middletown, RI; son, Dietrich Burtchell of Columbia, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Bart Bowers of Columbia, MO; step-daughter and her husband, Dana Harrell and JC Redfearn of Middletown, RI; siblings, Darrell Burtchell and long-time companion, Carol Prowse of Killingworth, CT, Darwin Burtchell of Clinton, CT, Dayl Etheridge and her husband, Rick of Plantsville, CT; grandchildren, Brittany, Nicholas, Faith, Saylor, Steel, Reagan, and Ian; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Arlene Burtchell; brother, Duane Burtchell; infant grandson, Derrick Burtchell.
    All were welcome to attend and celebrate Dennis’ life.
    Calling hours were held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 5-7 p.m., in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. A funeral service and burial with military honors was scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, November 8, at Buckingham Congregational Church in Glastonbury, CT, with a reception that followed.
    The family would like to thank Dr. Jude Clancy of Yale New Haven Hospital and Dr. Graham Hammond, also of Yale, for their care and dedication over the past 15 years.
