HOULTON, Maine – The Houlton Middle High School has received a generous $10,000 donation to its emergency fund, thanks to the combined efforts of the Houlton High School Alumni Association and the Putnam Family Charitable Trust. The donation, made on February 27, will provide critical support to students and families facing financial hardships, ensuring access to essential items such as clothing, school supplies and emergency assistance.
The Houlton High School Alumni Association raised $5,000 through its participation in the “Giving Tuesday” program, a global movement that encourages charitable donations. In a show of support for the school and community, the Putnam Trust matched the Alumni Association’s contribution, bringing the total donation to $10,000.
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous gift,” said Principal DeWayne L. Morse. “The Houlton High School Alumni Association’s commitment to supporting current students, combined with the Putnam Trust’s matching donation, will have a lasting impact on our school community. These funds help eliminate barriers to learning and provide essential support to students in need.”
