Slush blamed for crash
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Poor road conditions were blamed Monday for a two-vehicle accident on the Houlton Road.
The accident, which occurred early on the afternoon of Nov. 4, 2014, took place at the intersection of the Spragueville Road and U.S. Route 1.
“Troy Ouellette, 40, of Gouldsboro, was northbound when he struck slush and snow, causing his 2010 Ford Fusion to slide into the southbound lane, where he collided head-on with a 2006 Ford Fusion being driven by Victor Hartley, 45, of Fort Kent, who was traveling south,” said Dep. Chief Laurie Kelly, of the Presque Isle Police Department.
Kelly said Ouellette, his wife Charity Ouellette, 36, and Hartley were all transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance, where they were treated and later released.
The Ouellettes’ children, ages 10 and 13, were passengers in the rear seat and were not injured.
Both vehicles were towed due to extensive damage as a result of the crash. No charges are pending.
The Presque Isle Fire Department also responded to assist at the scene.
