PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center is featuring young artists during March, Youth Art Month. The opening reception for their show will be held Friday, March 7 from 6-7:45 p.m.

The show is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

“We are excited to feature Anna Graves, grade 8, and Isabelle Tupper, grade 9,” said Gretchen Violette, Wintergreen’s events director. “Along with these two very talented young artists, we will also feature art created by students from our After School Arts Program.”

Tupper said, “I really like to make art pieces that are meaningful to me but also appealing to others, one of the ways I do this is by adding lots of colors that correspond/fit well together because I think it looks super pretty and because it helps to draw people’s attention towards certain parts of the picture.”

Tupper lives with her family in Fort Fairfield. She has a twin sister and a younger sister. Her art mediums are watercolor, collage/mixed media, pencil/graphite, and digital.

Graves said, “My favorite type of art is drawing, and I am also interested in photography.”

Graves lives with her family in Presque Isle. She has two brothers and a sister. Graves is a cheerleader as well as a competitive gymnast.

Violette added, “Youth Art Month is an exciting time here at the center. These young artists are taking a big step by sharing their art. Our hope is that their courage to share their work inspires many other young people to explore their own creativity.”
