    SHELBURNE, NH & PRESQUE ISLE, ME – Mildred L. Hayes (nee James), age 85, went home to be with the Lord on October15, 2014, after being a resident of St. Vincent de Paul Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Berlin, NH, since August 2013. She was born June 17, 1929, in Presque Isle, ME, the daughter of Cyrus and Hazel James. She grew up and was educated in Presque Isle. She married Richard Hayes of Shelburne, NH, on September 6, 1948. Together they raised five children, living the majority of their life in Shelburne, NH.
    Mildred is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Wanda Smith of Punta Gorda, FL; son, Timothy Hayes and wife, Tina of Shelburne, NH; daughter, Patrice Becker and husband, Michael of Westbrook, ME; son, James Hayes and wife, Cheryl of Laconia, NH; daughter, Heidi Walker and husband, Thomas of Weare, NH; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mildred is also survived by her sister, Jean Brown and husband, Bernard of Fort Fairfield, ME.
    She was predeceased by an infant son; her sister, Irene McLaughlin; brother, Lawrence James; and son-in-law, Bernard Smith.
    Calling hours were held at Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade, Gorham, NH, on October 17, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral was also at the Funeral Home on Saturday October 18, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Peabody Cemetery, North Road, Shelburne, NH.
