City celebrates revenue

Presque Isle has reached a $700,000 in revenue above the budget, city officials said, a testament to growing appeal and a thriving economy.

The excess is partly due to revenue sharing, Industrial Council revenues, emergency medical service revenues, investment income, and tip fees for solid waste.

Presque Isle is the heart and service center of Aroostook County.  According to the Maine Office of Tourism, Aroostook County has a high repeat number of visitors, as 37 percent had traveled in Maine more than 10 times.  Tourism in The County through the end of April was up by 17.5 percent, the largest increase in the sate.

This milestone also highlights the vital role tourism plays in supporting local businesses, creating new job opportunities, and enhancing community development, according to City Manager Tyler Brown.

“The City of Presque Isle will continue to work to bring more people into Presque Isle.  As we continue to welcome more visitors, we’re excited to invest back into our community, making Presque Isle an even more vibrant place to live, work, and explore,” Brown said.
