Emera Maine crews responded to two power outages in the past week, the first in Washburn on Sunday, then one on Friday in several local communities.
“The power outage in Washburn on Aug. 31 resulted in an electrical interruption from 4:58 to 6:38 p.m. and was caused by a broken cutout, which is a piece of electrical equipment. A total of 69 customers were affected,” said Susan Faloon, communications supervisor for Emera Maine.
The second incident, on Sept. 5, left over 2,000 customers without power shortly after 8 a.m.
“Emera crews were dispatched and patrolled the lines to determine the cause of the power outage, which left more than 2,700 customers in Fort Fairfield, Ashland, Masardis, Portage, Westfield, Oxbow Plantation and surrounding areas without electricity,” said Faloon.
Emera crews and other technicians, according to Faloon, “worked to restore service to all customers as safely and quickly as possible.”
Faloon said the cause of the Sept. 5 outage was found to be a downed transmission line. Service was restored around 9:30 a.m.
