BANGOR – Paul Wayne Kingsbury, 51, passed away at EMMC on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 22, 1963, in Mars Hill, ME, and was the son of Elwood Lee Kingsbury Sr. and Phyllis Marie (Bridges) Kingsbury.
He was a much loved brother to Elwood Lee Kingsbury Jr. (deceased), Linda (Kingsbury) Morrison of Silver Creek, NY, and Alan Kingsbury of Presque Isle, ME. He is also survived by a nephew, Jordan Morrison of Silver Creek, NY; brother-in-law, James Morrison of Silver Creek, NY; and several cousins.
He was a graduate of Central Aroostook High School, received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from UMPI, Presque Isle, ME, and his Master of Education in College Student Personnel Administration from Ohio University of Athens, OH.
He held numerous positions in college administration at the following: Delaware Valley College, Bethany College, Defiance College, Walsh University, Alfred University, George Washington University, Frostburg State University, Merrimack College and most recently Husson University.
He was a very active member of the TKE fraternity and did much of the administrative work to get their grant chartered in 1985. He had a love for the students he worked with during his career and was instrumental in developing policies to help students with adjusting to college life and guiding them through troubled times.
To the end, Paul had a great sense of humor and his desire even as he lay in the hospital, was that everyone who dealt with him have the same. He was easy-going and a trustworthy friend. He had great strength and believed until the end that he would beat this vicious disease.
A word of thanks goes out to Dr. Sheila Pascual, her nurse, Teresa and the staff who worked alongside Paul at Husson. ‘You were his family during this illness’. Paul as well as his family will be forever grateful. Also a special thanks to the BAT drivers for their friendly and compassionate service to Paul.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Paul to: EMMC Champion the Cure Challenge, EMMC Foundation, PO Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931. A memorial service to be held at Full Gospel Assembly in Mars Hill will be announced at a later date.
