Ready to work with AARP
To the editor:
As a recently retired SAD 1 school administrator and a candidate for the state legislature to represent the people of Presque Isle, I was very interested in two informative articles in the August 6, 2014 issue of the Star-Herald.
Both articles specifically addressed concerns of voters age 50 and over as reported in the 2014 Survey of Maine Registered Voters. Among the issues of greatest concern to people in this age group were financial security, affordable health care and prescription drugs, and the assurance of being able to remain in their homes for as long as possible. Remaining in our homes often requires significant support, and one article stated that more than 191,000 residents help their aging parents, with women being most significantly impacted as caregivers.
As a candidate in District 147 for the Maine House of Representatives, I stand ready to work with current and future lawmakers and organizations such as AARP to find practical long-term solutions that make sense for Mainers.
I welcome constructive questions or suggestions and encourage readers to contact me at larrykennethfox@gmail.com, or call 540-1216.
