Washburn District Elementary students enjoyed their annual Fun Day on Wednesday, June 11.
The weather was perfect for the day-long outdoor event. Activities included an obstacle course, water balloons, face painting, barbecue and much more. Steve Boddy of KC & Company DJ Services volunteered his time to play music during the day. The students went home happy, tired and wet.
Poulin graduates
Springfield College recently held its commencement weekend where 600 master’s degrees, five certificates of advanced graduate study, nine doctor of philosophy degrees, and 30 doctoral of physical therapy degrees were awarded at the graduate commencement ceremony. At the undergraduate commencement, 944 bachelor’s degrees were awarded for a two-day total of 1,588 degrees. Among the graduates was Jacquelyn Poulin of Washburn.
School year ends
The last day of school in Washburn for the summer is Thursday, June 19. Please watch for children playing and drive safely through town.
August Festival
The August Festival Committee is busy planning for the 34th annual Washburn August Festival. The Festival dates of August 15-17 are going to again be filled with many exciting and enjoyable festivities.
The August Festival Committee relies on the community support to keep this wonderful event going year after year. Sponsorships are also being in the form of cash donations of any amount to provide the level of festivities that you have grown to expect and deserve.
