Maine’s First Lady to personalize baby journals at TAMC
County families with babies born in the past year, who received the “Love.Read.Learn!” Baby Journal from any area hospital, are welcome to visit TAMC’s A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital this Friday, June 6 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. to have their book autographed by Maine’s First Lady Ann LePage.
LePage’s visit to the Women and Children’s Unit comes almost exactly a year after she came to TAMC to present the first of her baby journals in Aroostook. The “Love.Read.Learn!” Baby Journal was provided at no cost to parents of newborns in Maine over the last year.
The journal features the artwork of selected artists participating in the “Maine is ME Student Art Challenge.” Artwork was submitted by 867 children in grades K-8 from throughout the state. The publication features the works of 31 children.
The featured cover artist is Kevin Duplessie of Caribou, a student at Caribou Middle School.
In addition to the autograph session with Mrs. LePage, Maine’s First Lady will model the importance of parents reading to their children by reading herself to a group of children from the Aroostook County Action Program’s Child Care Program.
Young children who attend ACAP’s Presque Isle Park Street Early Head Start and child care programs will visit TAMC’s Women and Children’s Unit that afternoon and tour the floor before being read to by the First Lady.
