Congratulations to Sydney Trask, a junior at the University of Maine at Orono, for being inducted into the All-Maine Women Honor Society. The All-Maine Women Honor Society was founded in 1925 to recognize distinguished leadership, scholarship and service to the university and campus community by outstanding women of the rising senior class.
AMW is an honorary society and is currently made up of 12 rising seniors who are chosen on the basis of character, Maine spirit, honor, dignity and willingness to accept responsibility. The group is self-perpetuating. Its members are pledged to uphold and promote the ideals, the standards and the traditions of the University of Maine. Its purpose is to act as a balance wheel on the campus, to cooperate with all organizations and movements, to carry on work which will tend to draw faculty, staff, students and alumnae/alumni together, and at all times to stand by those things which are highest and best and most worthwhile in college life.
Members are considered the consummate role model for University of Maine women, and there is no greater tribute to the accomplishments of Maine women than to be inducted into the All-Maine Women Honor Society. There is no greater responsibility than to live up to the ideals of the Society and to continue to serve the University of Maine, both on campus and in the world at large.
School play
Easton Elementary and Junior High will perform “Princess Whatsername” on Friday, May 16, 6:30 p.m. at EHS gym. It’s about a princess who is lost in the forest, but does not remember who she is or where she is from. She meets many characters — Rumpelstiltskin, Goldilocks, Snow White, to name a few. Where there’s a princess there’s always a prince, but he is always one step behind in finding her. A fun play with lots of interesting characters! Please come out and support our young actors and actresses!
Youth get heart-healthy
Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart are national education and fund-raising events sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). At the elementary school level, Grace Flewelling raised the most money for the American Heart Association with a total of $165 in donations and Brandon Hosford raised the most amount of money doing Hoops for Heart with $115 at the high school level. The total for both events combined was $3,147.87 dollars raised. Jump Rope for Heart at EES raised $2,022.53 and Hoops for Heart at the junior high and high school was $1,125.34. What a tremendous effort by Easton students for a wonderful cause.

They invite men who are interested in Christian fellowship with other men.
A DVD teaching geared for men about 20 to 30 minutes long by Dennis Rainey from Family Life, entitled “Stepping Up,” will be shown beginning June 14. This is a 10-session video series that calls men to boldly forge into courageous manhood. “Stepping Up” defines courage throughout the five stages of manhood and commissions men to honestly evaluate where they stand in the duties of masculinity. It tackles head-on the call to living, breathing manhood, offering a powerful vision for what it means to be a man who truly conquers and wins. In ways both candid and inspiring, He beckons men in any field and any life stage with stirring conviction, practical insight and moving accounts of bold heroes.
Meetings will be hosted and lead by Pastor Granvill Lamb, Jr. and Jay Siddiqui. Please contact Pastor Granvill Lamb at 764-3229 or email newsongchurch@maine.rr.com with any questions.
