PRESQUE ISLE, Maine— The Probus Club of Aroostook met at Northern Maine Community College’s Reed Commons April 17, with 14 members and two visiting guests in attendance.
The name “Probus” is an abbreviation for the words “professional” and “business,” but membership is not restricted to those two groups. The club embraces former executives of government and other organizations and anyone who has had some measure of responsibility in any field of endeavor.
Carolyn Watson, program chairperson, introduced special speaker Patty LeBlanc, who is a member of the Presque Isle Downtown Revitalization Committee and is the original owner of the famous Lobster Stew and past owner of Winnie’s Restaurant. She told club members that the revitalization committee has done a great deal to improve the downtown area and gave an overview of what has been accomplished to date and what plans are for the near future.
The next club meeting is May 15 at 10 a.m., also at Reed Commons.
