EASTON, Maine — Town officials are making progress on updating the community’s comprehensive plan.

“We’re halfway through and right on track where we want to be. We’ll be ready to submit it to the state by December,” said Town Manager Jim Gardner.
Gardner said a lot has changed for the town since the last update to the plan, more than a decade ago.
“We’ve brought in the Amish culture as part of the town’s demographic. Since they use horses and buggies, we have to take that into consideration when looking at our road needs,” he said.
The town manager said the town’s planning board has been “very faithful in holding monthly meetings.”
“We need to have a comprehensive plan in place to apply for grants, so it’s important to finish the update to show where we’re at and where we’d like to see the town in the future,” said Gardner.
“Times change; a comprehensive plan should be done every 10 years, to keep up with changes,” Gardner said.
