PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Family and friends gathered recently at Leisure Gardens to honor Gertrude Oakes on her 97th birthday. Music was provided by nephews, Dale and Wendell Hudson, niece, Sherry Thibodeau, great-great-nieces, Trinity Bartlett and Brianna Jernigan and great-great-nephew, Mason Bartlett. Peter Parker also accompanied the group.
Refreshments were served by Tina Ruest and Gloria Curtis. Those in attendance were Pearl Williams, sister; Alice Littlefield, daughter and Melvin Johnson, friend. Other relatives were Linda Kurilec, niece; Sheldon Keiser, grandson, and his wife, Jennifer; great-grandsons, Spencer Keiser and Joshua Keiser and great-granddaughter, Abigail Keiser; great-nephew, Ryan Miller and his wife, Jami; great-niece, Jennifer Bartlett and fourth cousin Lena Kenney and extended family members, Gordy and Alice Keiser.
Friends in attendance were Jo Ann Hubbard, Betty Edgecomb, Chickie Smith, Louise McPherson, Lillare Gallagher, Natalie Kavin, Esther Murray, Doris Cray, Viola Cochran and many others.
Gifts were opened and a wonderful time of fellowship was enjoyed by everyone.
