‘Cat skaters lose close one at Forum

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Waterville Purple Panthers received second-period goals from Justin Wentworth and Michael Oliveria to seal the 2-1 victory over the Wildcats in high school hockey action Friday at the Forum.    PI’s Ryder Soucy scored early in the third period on an assist from Dan Boucher to cut the lead in half, but the hosts got no closer. Jillian Flynn saved 24 of 26 shots for PI and Kalevala Kane turned away 24 of 25 for Waterville.
The ’Cats fell to 6-5-1 with the loss and are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Maine Class B Heal Point standings.
They play Old Town-Orono Friday at UM-Orono’s Alfond Arena before facing Waterville in a make-up game Saturday morning.
