The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host the American Mathematics Competition on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 12:30-4 p.m. in the St. John and Aroostook Rooms of the Campus Center. The AMC 10 is a 25-question, 75-minute multiple choice examination in secondary school mathematics containing problems that can be understood and solved with algebra and geometry concepts. The AMC 10 is for students in grades 9 and 10. The AMC 12 is a 25-question, 75-minute multiple choice examination in secondary school mathematics containing problems that can be understood and solved with pre-calculus concepts. The AMC 12 is for students in grades 11 and 12.
Schools may register to participate in the competition and the students of registered schools may participate in their school any time on Feb. 4. If your school is not participating as a school in the competition, you are invited to register and come to UMPI to participate. Registration is required and the event is free of charge.
