Students summonsed for drug possession

ASHLAND, Maine — Four local youth were summonsed for drug possession last week after three of them were discovered smoking marijuana in a bathroom at Aroostook Community High School.    “We received a report from school officials on Jan. 9 that students were smoking pot on school grounds. The call came in around 12:36 p.m. We responded and questioned three juveniles, all 16 years of age or younger,” said Chief Cyr Martin, of the Ashland Police Department.
Martin said the youth — all students at the school — implicated a fourth individual, upon questioning.
“We were able to determine who was supplying the three with marijuana. We questioned that person — also a juvenile, who was later charged with trafficking the marijuana,” said Martin.
Due to their age, no names are being released. The four were charged with possession of schedule Z drugs, with the fourth individual also charged with trafficking.
Martin said the investigation is ongoing.
“More charges may be brought, including for an adult and possibly other students who may be involved,” said Martin.
