The icy weather prevented Bigrock from hosting an alpine ski meet Saturday, but a Nordic race did take place two days earlier at the Nordic Heritage Center.
The Fort Kent girls and Caribou boys were able to secure team victories Thursday afternoon in the five-kilometer classical race.
Hannah Streinz of Katahdin took the girls’ race with a time of 19 minute and 9.2 seconds.
Sarah Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield took third in 20:43.5 and Bonnie Corey of PI was sixth in 23:49.9. Twenty-nine skiers competed in the girls’ race.
Katahdin’s Daniel Streinz won the boys’ event in 15:21.5. PI’s Gannon Therrien (19:14.6) and Noah Rossignol (19:22.4) were eighth and ninth, respectively. FF’s Thomas Krause (19:45.4) was 10th in the race that included 34 competitors.
